Abstract Submission

The BMFMS Executive recognizes that the results of some exciting research were not available by the general abstract submission deadline. Therefore there will be a late-breaking abstract deadline for abstracts that will enrich the BMFMS annual meeting with the results of outstanding studies that were completed after the general abstract submission deadline.

All abstract submissions must be made by e-mail to Fionnuala Mone, scientific representative f.mone@qub.ac.uk. The late-breaking abstracts site opens on 3rd March 2025, and the deadline for late-breaking abstract submission is 23:59 on 6th April 2025.

Eligibility

To submit a late-breaking abstract, the following criteria must be met:

  • Late-breaking abstracts should highlight include ground-breaking and novel data that otherwise could not be presented at the annual meeting.
  • The selection process will be competitive; no more than four abstracts will be selected for an oral presentation in a late-breaking abstracts session on Thursday 8th May at 1600-17:00 in person at the ICC, Belfast.
  • Examples of suitable late-breaking abstracts might include the results of a practice-changing prospective clinical trial or the discovery of a mechanism underlying or characterising a disease process that were not fully available by the general abstract submission deadline.
  • Late-breaking abstracts are not eligible for oral or poster presentation in the regular BMFMS annual meeting abstract program.
  • At least one of the authors must be a BMFMS member.
  • The presenting author must guarantee that the study data will be presented at the BMFMS annual meeting
  • Abstracts should be no more than 250 words and include a title and the name of the presenting author

Trainees

At BMFMS we are focused on making 2025’s conference interesting and relevant for trainees. The programme is relevant for medical students with an interest in O&G/MFM, O&G trainees and locally-employed doctors and MFM subspecialty trainees. We hope that it sparks interest for you and that you enjoy meeting subspecialists from across the UK.

Simulation

Throughout the conference there will be a simulation suite available to all delegates to use. This will include equipment to simulate cervical cerclage, breech delivery and amniocentesis. Delegates wil be able to book into a simulation suite session here soon. We will provide certificate of attendance in addition to Mini CEX for the procedures for those delegates that attend.

Conference Dinner

All trainees are encouraged to attend the conference dinner, which has been heavily subsidised by BMFMS and is always a highlight of the conference. Any trainees who would like to attend but don’t know anyone else going can contact our trainee reps Sian (sian.bullough@liverpool.ac.uk) or Laura (laurawharton@hotmail.co.uk) who would be happy to sit together!
