Dr Melissa Whitworth qualified in medicine at Manchester University in 1995. She is a Consultant Obstetrician with a special interest in clinical trials. She obtained her research degree (MD) from the University of Manchester in 2000 and gained higher training in Manchester and Liverpool. She has an interest in socially complex pregnancy. Dr Whitworth runs specialist clinics for women at risk of preterm labour and women with diabetes. She is the obstetrician for the specialist service for pregnant teenagers. She has sat on NICE guideline committees and is a member of the British Fetal and Maternal Medicine committee. She is the Greater Manchester Clinical Research Network speciality lead for Reproductive Health and Childbirth.
